poison. by maskqueraide poison. by maskqueraide
edit [6/25]: I am referring to the character Alice in the story and not the actual people. Yes, I already knew there were rumors of the author being on drugs and having a crush on the Alice he wrote the story for. No need to tell me ^^

I bet Alice (WonderLand - not the actual person) was really doing drugs like LSD and that's why she saw all those crazy things in her dream. Maybe it wasn't a dream. Maybe it was her distorted perception of reality. Like she didn't know how to make sense of it all. Living in a world within the world she had to survive in. Or the way to get into that world was falling into some dark pit, to an endless abyss away from judgmental eyes..

Or her fears were just personified into bizarre things like a purple fat grinning cat, or a smoking caterpillar (drug dealer), and that bitchy Queen was probably some Drama Queen she had to deal with IRL....And the Mad Hatter was just her accomplice in being psycho (so that it didn't feel so lonely?) The White Queen was probably like some 'last strand of Hope' kind of thing.

And getting lost in some weird places was just her desire to get the hell out of the real world...

Oh Alice...

Looks like a bottle of Amyl Nitrate. Shit sold as "poppers" That stuff was bad crap. Idiots bought that stuff like hotcakes for ten buck a bottle. Law finally made it a controlled substance and in this case they were right to do so.

-_____- Does it hurt anyone else's self-confidence when a damn bottle of nailpolish makes it to the populars page? Seriously? I mean I could understand if she made the bottle herself and created some glittery liquid solution to put it in, but what the hell.

Also, I decided to read your statement. That's nice and poetic but wrong of course. Charles Dodgson (who most know by his pen name as Lewis Carroll) didn't use hallucinogens as his driving force for the dozens of books he wrote. (However he MAY have done opiates occasionally, along with every other Victorian Englishmen of his day, although Dodgson was a very religious man and active in the church.)
It's saddening to know that someone can't be wildly creative in this age without the speculation of being aided by a narcotic stimulant. The same was surmised about Dali, and several of the other greatest artists. But sadly no. Carroll's creativity I don't think can be glamorized by the use of all of these psychedelic drugs and experiences or references to altered realities, or any of the like. Carroll was an experimenter of many things; logic, mathematics, literature, and with his books, he made out to capture the spirit of intelligent curiosity. Many times his work is deemed as nonsense or trippy entertainment when really what he was trying to do was challenge the reader with word games and riddles to illustrate real word reflections or to show how words can be elucidated. I think it's the readers job to try to grapple the maze of puzzles as best they can (maybe even find them as instructive) instead of deeming them psychotic.

I already said I was referring to the character in the story and not the actual author or the real Alice girl.. I don't know how I can explain this more??

And of course I am not implying that being creative like that means you are on drugs...

I understand what you said. But that doesn't make much sense. You were referring to the character, but who was the character created by? You can't really reference a character and disregard the author, the two are hand-in-hand. The author was the one who brought the character's intentions into being.

I can come up with a psychotic character, but that doesn't mean that I am psychotic myself.

The characters the people create doesn't have to be what the author is. So, I disagree with you at that part. Because I have written stories where there is a crazy, insane girl, but that does not mean that I am crazy as well or used to be in some asylum. The character should stand on his own.

Right. Of course you can. In that case, every murder novelist would have been arrested. I'm not telling you that they are the same. I'm saying that the author's intentions need to be noted when trying to make claims about a character of there's. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is unique in that it is less of an entertaining tale, as a means of daily life and mental application. So what I'm saying is that no, the author did not create Alice as a druggy or an LSD junkie.

I know that Alice wasn't a druggie ^^

But, what I said in the artist comments is just how I had a different perspective and how the alternative universe Lewis created can be looked at in that way. Just a different interpretation.

Super cool shot...! Actually, LSD wasn't around in Carroll's time... LSD was a 1930's creation... I do like the concept though, possibly mental illness? heavy insomniac perhaps, who had these distorts of reality as a result? The story is actually a sexual fantasy... Lewis Carroll himself wasn't quite sane, so don't ask for the logic behind that one!! But i dig it, i have a huge infatuation with Alice... I even wrote a song about it!

LSD wasn't created until way later. I would say Amanita muscari, also called fly agaric, is a better probable cause.

and now that you mention it, I'm feel really bad for Alice.... and everyone else from that movie. You make a good point too and maybe they don't have IRLs, maybe they have creepy nasty stuff that has the same effect. idk but your pic is deep man :(

this reminds me of R&J

Come hither, man. I see that thou art poor: Hold, there is forty ducats: let me have A dram of poison, such soon-speeding gear As will disperse itself through all the veins That the life-weary taker may fall dead And that the trunk may be discharged of breath As violently as hasty powder fired Doth hurry from the fatal cannon's womb.

Actually the author wrote it for a little girl to try and impress her. He was in to that kind of stuff, Lolita and such. I did a book report on it and then had to write a paper about the author for school some years ago.

Also a side note. I love the morbid nail polish and make up brand ^.^

Actually the original writer of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass had no intention of his stories having anything to do with drugs. In fact, Alice is twelve, maybe thirteen, based off Carroll's best friend in life, a young girl named Alice Liddell.

As a fan of literature, I felt compelled to share this with you.

The next part is a bit of constrictive criticism, if you don't want to hear my opinion, you don't need to read it, of course.

This is an interesting piece, but it's not ART. In a blunt way of saying, that is. Yes, it's a nice shot with nice colors, but a picture of a nail polish bottle that you didn't even alter in your own way is not "creative" I would have preferred something YOU did. You can go out and buy a small bottle, paint it up and/or fill it with colored liquid, and take a photo of it, and then I'll be impressed. Maybe add more color to the back ground, colors to contrast your nails and hand like that bit of black and the blue, another idea, maybe stack up some books and/or note books for the back ground. But the lighting is very nice, I must add on a lighter tone.
